About & Editorial Policy

policy.md
Roster60 is a web directory organised on the principles of an editorial periodical: methodical subject arrangement, plainly labelled sections, and open submission. Each entry in the catalogue represents a publicly accessible website, reviewed before inclusion and placed in one of 22 named subject sections. The directory currently carries 838 catalogued addresses, covering subjects from correspondence services and motor trade to medical resources, legal counsel, and travel records. Each section of the catalogue is self-contained, allowing a reader to survey an entire subject area in one view — a method more suited to considered discovery than keyword retrieval. Roster60 was assembled as a working editorial index: one that organises by subject rather than by algorithm and that applies consistent criteria across every entry. The result is a catalogue that functions less like a search engine and more like a well-maintained periodical index — a reference consulted when surveying a subject rather than locating a single address. The directory accepts submissions at no charge. Site owners wishing to appear in the catalogue may submit their address through the Add a Site form, selecting the section most relevant to their site. Each submission is reviewed before inclusion. Sites that meet the basic criteria — publicly accessible, relevant to the chosen section, and in reasonable working order — are entered into the catalogue. Roster60 is updated on a rolling basis as submissions are assessed. Entries already in the catalogue are periodically reviewed; those that have moved, lapsed, or become inaccessible are removed. The aim is a directory that remains a useful standing reference, not merely one that accumulates entries without editorial maintenance.
